Translation: last week my friend Terry whom I got to know at PCA last fall came to Paris to visit! We caught up and babbled away about life, Paris, fashion and social media (hashtag bloggerlife) at Poulette. A wonderful restaurant, make sure not to miss! (And also, don't forget I put up a translate button up on the right!)

Bistrot Victoires & the opera

God afton!

Translation: I've had a really eventful week but this was one of the highlights: a dinner with a dear friend at Bistro Victoires!

Cafét ligger i Palais Royals trädgård, mitt i stan.

A few weeks ago, I had a day off and went into town to pop in at hyped Café Kitsuné located in the Palais Royal gardens. Countless instagram pics from both the garden (you know the one with the black and white striped pillars, perfect to pose on) and the café has been spotted in the feed and I felt compelled to try this hyped place!

Matching latte is a kind of green tea where the entire bush is ground down to be used. A cup is said to contain 500 times more antioxidants than a green apple. Even though I think of myself as an experienced tea drinker I usually don't like tea lattes. Chai latte for example, blergh. But anyways, this had to be tested!

Café Kitsuné is Maison Kitsune own café and is balanced perfectly well between hipster and cozy. Kitsune means fox in Japanese, and the interior is decorated with foxes on white walls and a pretty impressive coffee machine. Coffee, juice and cookies are all carefully selected and made by professionals.

So alas, how did the test go? Meh. It was not up my alley. Tasted a lot like drinking grass with milk. This is probably an acquired taste, and my taste buds aint ready yet.

But I can totally see myself hanging out here some more, drinking that juice instead and spot fashion celebrities. Do you like matcha lattes, and if yes, HOW do you do it?? 😉

Breakfast in Paris – Claus Paris

Time for the yummiest day of the week - Breakfast in Paris is here! This time we tried out Claus Paris - La table du petite déjeuner, a place that has gotten tons of praise for its brunch. They can actually boast with both a café and a store - just across the road (L'epicerie) where you can buy all the breakfasty ingredients needed. Smart huh!

Breakfast in ParisClaus has different set menus, perfect for brunch. But we usually take a few things from the assorted menu. So we decided to tried out the different granolas, and as you can see my granola is a little bit different from the others... WHAT. When I first saw this I thought I'd cry, but luckily it does not taste like porridge (I hate porridge). I suppose it's some kind of speciality that the owner brought in from his home state Bavaria. I don't know, but I do really think this should be specified on the menu.

Breakfast in ParisI also tasted the cinnamon brioche, and although it was good it really has nothing on the Swedish cinnamon bun. So a liiiiittle disappointed on this breakkie, probably because of really high hopes. The detox juice was superb however. Breakfast in ParisThe interior was cozy and airy and we could enjoy the breakfast in a calm atmosphere.

Breakfast in ParisSome floor love here too!

Breakfast in ParisWhen we left the place got a little more crowded. A tip is coming early (Paris early...) around 8.30 to be able to choose any table. Have you been here? Any thoughts? 🙂

Lunch at Hôtel Costes

Wednesday done! Wednesdays are the most theoretical days for me in school with Topics in Fashion history as first class and the Pattern drafting for 5(!) hours in the afternoon. They will be challenging, as I am not very good and not super passionate about either. Both are very needed though to become a better designer (gotta know who came up with draping to know the context fashion is in! Gotta know how to make patterns from scratch!) so I will really try to do my best.

But on a more luxurious note, (I have promised myself to blog about all the eating this past weekend) here comes the second part of the eating out post. Oscar had arranged a table for two for lunch at Hôtel Costes! Such a lovely surprise. I have only read about it in glossy magazines so it was a real treat to actually go there. Here are some pictures from the patio we're we sat.

It's a very lovely place with beautiful surroundings where you can people watch to the max, but the staff and service was quite the opposite. So bad! The girl that showed us to the table just waved a little with her hand and flopped the menus on the table (she almost missed it) and the girl that served us poured a quarter of the very overpriced fizzy water on the table when she was serving me. Not as much as a word, and no new napkin (mine was drenched). I also had to ask for my drink (a lovely jug of Pimm's) another time and the food came after 50 minutes. The waitress claimed it was a very hard to put together dish (umm, a cold sandwich...), but the couple next to us got theirs 20 minutes before us and they arrived later than us.

Yes, you might think I'm being picky and all right now, but shouldn't I be? It's a super fancy hotel and I always have expectations and they are certainly raised when you enter a place like this. Anyways, the food was good and the overall experience very nice.

After that we walked, walked, walked and then walked a little bit more. And booked a table for the evening at L'atelier Saint Georges. Hamburgers! We usually try at least one hamburger when we travel and since this weekend had quite the vacay feel we didn't want to miss out. The restaurant is situated close to where I live, in South Pigalle which is kind of an up and coming area. There are lots of nice restaurants there and the streets are very cozy. For instance, you have the hotel Amour here, which some friends stayed at and recommended for the nice ambiance in the area. Anyways, to the burgers. They were very French burgers. I had one with blue cheese and Oscar had one with goose liver. Very interesting tastes! I would prefer Oscar's over mine, and it was that one who had gotten a 5 star in the burger blog of Paris that I found before heading there. The fries where nice too, and the staff friendly (a bit stressed) and the decor very nice and a little bit hipster. (It was also VERY warm in there, dress appropriately!)

After that we headed down to Avenue George V to meet up with some fellow Swedes at a new restaurant/club called Yeeels for a drink. A nice way to end the night!
