Breakfast in Paris: KB Caféshop

Hello Thursday and hello breakfast in Paris! This time we tried out KB Caféshop at Rue des Martyrs, just a few streets away from where I live. We wanted to try this one time earlier but then the place was just too crowded, and it has a really good rating on tripadvisor. Something I can understand now!

They have a breakfast menu where you get to choose one hot beverage, one juice and one "sucré", which means cake, granola or scones (see pictures of the menu further down) for 12€. I chose the scones and Andrea the granola and we were not disappointed! It was very yummy and a super nice place to hang out at and people watch in the very large windows. We hung out there for quite some time and chatted away. The staff was very friendly too. Perfect place to start your day in Paris at and then stroll down the street to Lafayette and the Opera!

Saturday in Paris

Men icke här.

Ju längre in man kom, desto dyrare blev det.

Hey hey peeps, I hope you have a nice weekend! My Saturday started with an early morning to head out to the outskirts of northern Paris - more specifically, to Porte de Clignancourt flea market, Marché St Ouen (you can find everything about it here). I had heard very good things about it before so I was stoked and prepped, with huge bag from Carrefour for possible findings and I was quick in my steps to be there on the dot when it opened. Since that's how it works in Sweden! But alas, apparently not here.

I was actually way too early, some had not even opened yet. And after an hour of philandering about, I came tot the conclusion that the prices were about doubled the ones at home. I was no longer stoked, pretty cold and miserable actually. The further you went, the more expensive it was. In the end it was purely antiques and that was not in the budget unfortunately (hardly the crappy stuff was in my budget actually).

Of course sa jag. Ååh the glamour of Paris!!! Som jag missar totalt. Oh well, nästa vecka kanske blir lite glammigare 😉

Quite disappointed I returned home, but then my friend Jennifer called and asked if I wanted to fika (eat pastries, very Swedish thing). Of course!! I said. We tested two delicious little patisseries here at Pain Pain in Montmartre (who received an award for their baguettes) and chatted away for a couple of hours. And after a little Saturday grocery shopping I am now at home and enjoying my Friday flowers and just about to sink my teeth into homework for the week to come. Ooh the glamor of Paris!!! Err, that I'm totally missing right now. Oh well, next week might get a little bit more glam 😉

Breakfast in Paris – Le Pavillon des Canaux

It's Thursday and time for Breakfast in Paris - this time Andrea showed me Le Pavillon des Canaux in the 19th arr, just by the canal. A super cozy house where you can sit in almost every room - even the bathroom!!! So we popped a squat in the bathtub (a little tricky if you're tall) and enjoyed our granola, juice and brownie (all for 12,50€). I think they serve brunch on weekends and the location is fab for a warm summer day. We're definately coming back!

Cafét ligger i Palais Royals trädgård, mitt i stan.

A few weeks ago, I had a day off and went into town to pop in at hyped Café Kitsuné located in the Palais Royal gardens. Countless instagram pics from both the garden (you know the one with the black and white striped pillars, perfect to pose on) and the café has been spotted in the feed and I felt compelled to try this hyped place!

Matching latte is a kind of green tea where the entire bush is ground down to be used. A cup is said to contain 500 times more antioxidants than a green apple. Even though I think of myself as an experienced tea drinker I usually don't like tea lattes. Chai latte for example, blergh. But anyways, this had to be tested!

Café Kitsuné is Maison Kitsune own café and is balanced perfectly well between hipster and cozy. Kitsune means fox in Japanese, and the interior is decorated with foxes on white walls and a pretty impressive coffee machine. Coffee, juice and cookies are all carefully selected and made by professionals.

So alas, how did the test go? Meh. It was not up my alley. Tasted a lot like drinking grass with milk. This is probably an acquired taste, and my taste buds aint ready yet.

But I can totally see myself hanging out here some more, drinking that juice instead and spot fashion celebrities. Do you like matcha lattes, and if yes, HOW do you do it?? 😉

Breakfast in Paris – Obladi Café

Hej torsdag!

Hey Thursday! The first Thursday back in Paris should be celebrated with a Breakfast in Paris-post right? RIGHT! Me and Andrea went to the very hyped Obladi Café in Maris to try their avocado sandwich. Mmmm. This is what the very hipster friendly café looks like:

Me and Andrea was as usual the jury. Big cravings for Avocado toast.

Avokadosmaken försvann liksom lite i skymundan.

Spoiler: it looks better than it tasted 🙁 The pomegranate added was yummy but the rest tasted more lika guacamole than avocado. It kinda hid the avocado taste. And the waiter was a perfectly uninterested guy, that really loved playing loud rock music early in the morning (according to their instagram it's part of their "thing") so meh... You can skip this toast. But probably totally fine for a coffee and a piece of cake in the afternoon.

Breakfast in Paris – Season in Le marais

It's Thursday and breakfast in Paris time! And yes I did survive Tuesday's final critic, I've just been buzy celebrating the fact that life has come back to me. And ironically a cold came too (classic). But whatever, I'm FREE and yesterday me, Jamie and Megan celebrated that with pancakes at Season in Le Marais.

#breakfastinParis, Breakfast at Season in Marais. #dempancakesFab interior huh? I loved it! Simplicity and a little ruggedness combined. We sat by at table close to the window, wich was really nice but a little bit cold (our only remark).
Very friendly staff helped us with the menu in both English and French. We got coldpressed orange/carot/ginger juice. (Good for a cold)

We got a tea after to get a little warmer and got this cute tea timer to tell us when it was ready.

Can really recommend Season, it was perfect for brunch and very popular for lunch too!

After the brunch I headed out on town to do some Christmas shopping. More about that later today. I have a few things to cross of my list before heading home on Saturday (Yaaay!) so better get going. Wishing you a nice Thursday morning! Soon weekend, hang in there 😉

Breakfast in Paris – Le Pain Quotidien

It was one tired breakfast in Paris lover who got out of bed this morning. I think you can see that from the photo haha. But as always, a yummy breakfast out is the best way to start the morning! I put my coziest, fluffiest sweater on and met up with Andrea at Rue des Martyres, one of my favorite streets here in the So-Pi area. If I get to stay in Paris after my diploma is done, I want to live around this area. They were putting up big christmas trees decorated with gold and red bows in the little square just outside of the café.

This street has a lot of breakfast places to try, but this time we decided to check out Le Pain Quotidien, somewhat the French equivalent to Starbucks. It was a little christmas decorated and not too crowded.Breakfast in Paris

Breakfast in ParisCute rustic interior and free wifi. Perfect Coffice.

Breakfast in ParisThey have a breakfast menu for 10.20€ where you get an assortment of organic bread and their yummy spreads and jams, either a croissant or pain au chocolat, a hot beverage and fresh juice. Breakfast in Paris

Breakfast in ParisThey had a fantastic white chocolate spread you have to try!! A little bit sweet but tasted just like the real deal.

The staff was friendly and helpful, maybe a tad slow in taking orders (it's been the same in all Quotidiens I've been to, they seem to be a little understaffed) and they played soft christmas music in the background. All in all a relaxed and nice breakfast place, and you could also add eggs and granola to your petit dej if you want. Recommended!

Breakfast in Paris – Poutch

Our breakfast in Paris quest continues! This week we tried another place at Rue Lucien Sampaix in the 10th (where both Holybelly and Bob's juicebar also lies) called Poutch! It's a vegetarian friendly café with a cozy mid century furniture goes hipster vibe and most important: they have a breakfast menu.

Breakfast in Paris - PoutchLove this little tree in a jar. They sell them further down the street.
Breakfast in Paris - PoutchCozy lamps!

Breakfast in Paris - PoutchI chose the mini granola, freshly baked baguette with jam (still warm!) and a clementine/apple/orange juice. Andrea had the big granola and a hot chocolate.

Breakfast in Paris - PoutchAndrea is ready to dig in! (I always make people wait a little because I'm taking pictures, can be a torture sometimes when you're hungry haha. Sorry!)

Breakfast in Paris - PoutchLooks cozy and inviting! The staff was very friendly (spoke perfect English) and they have wifi and you're more than allowed to stay here and work (as opposed to Holybelly, where they specify they don't want people lingering after eating). Coffice for the the win!

Breakfast in Paris – Claus Paris

Time for the yummiest day of the week - Breakfast in Paris is here! This time we tried out Claus Paris - La table du petite déjeuner, a place that has gotten tons of praise for its brunch. They can actually boast with both a café and a store - just across the road (L'epicerie) where you can buy all the breakfasty ingredients needed. Smart huh!

Breakfast in ParisClaus has different set menus, perfect for brunch. But we usually take a few things from the assorted menu. So we decided to tried out the different granolas, and as you can see my granola is a little bit different from the others... WHAT. When I first saw this I thought I'd cry, but luckily it does not taste like porridge (I hate porridge). I suppose it's some kind of speciality that the owner brought in from his home state Bavaria. I don't know, but I do really think this should be specified on the menu.

Breakfast in ParisI also tasted the cinnamon brioche, and although it was good it really has nothing on the Swedish cinnamon bun. So a liiiiittle disappointed on this breakkie, probably because of really high hopes. The detox juice was superb however. Breakfast in ParisThe interior was cozy and airy and we could enjoy the breakfast in a calm atmosphere.

Breakfast in ParisSome floor love here too!

Breakfast in ParisWhen we left the place got a little more crowded. A tip is coming early (Paris early...) around 8.30 to be able to choose any table. Have you been here? Any thoughts? 🙂

Breakfast in Paris – Bob’s juicebar

This week's breakfast in Paris post is about a charming little place just a few steps away from Holybelly called Bob's Juicebar. I wanted to show Oscar Holybelly but the line was too long so we ended up at Bob's which was a very happy turn of events.Breakfast in ParisBreakfast in Paris

Behind the counter stood an American man (Bob?) serving delicious shakes and bagels. We tried a blueberry/raspberry/banana shake and the avocado bagel. It was fantastic.

Mmm. It looks simple but it was so good, home made, freshly baked and boiled bagels with avocado and a little lemon juice on top. Yum!!! You have to go there if you stay close to Republique. And make sure you order the avo bagel. It was Bob's favorite too 😉
