Viktor & Rolf Fall 2016 Haute Couture show

För någon vecka sedan avslutades som sagt coutureveckan här i Paris (ni kanske minns Chanelvetet jag fotade) och jag vill hemskt gärna visa er en av mina favoriter från höstens visningar. Varje gång slås jag av vilket enastående hantverk som ligger bakom haute couture, helt magiska tyger, broderier och detaljer! Lägg därtill när ett maison lyckas förmedla ett starkt budskap i visningen, då är det jackpot för mig.

Detta lyckades Viktor & Rolf med i år, jag kände hur håret reste sig på armarna när jag såg livesändningen från showen - de valde nämligen att återbruka material från tidigare säsonger (så långt bak som 1993) och fick till helt magiska maxade kreationer. Precis som jag själv velat göra med min kollektion Wizard of Wazte om ni kommer ihåg!!! Gah, så coolt! De hade även valt att använda sig av vintage armyjackor som utgångspunkt för sina överdelar, återigen - PRECIS som mig!! Jag har ännu inte visat er min Wizard of Wazte-jacka men jag ska göra det asap så får ni se parallellerna jag drar som får mig i extas 😉

Det kändes så enormt stort att i denna fantastiska visning få en bekräftelse på att det man gör är något som andra kreativa människor (i detta fall kreativa genier som chefar för ett enormt maison) också upplever och har känt under året. Kreativ pepp!

Älskar hur de vävt samman tygrester för att få nya visuella intryck, överdådet av knappar som bildar en dip dye mosaik och jeansen som bryter av den sofistikerade tyllen. Givetvis måste vi titta på hur kollektionen såg ut, här kommer några favoritlooks:

Translation: one of my favorite shows from the Haute Couture week here in Paris was the Viktor & Rolf one. They reused fabrics from their own shows as far back as 1993 and I completely adore it. It's in the same mentality as I wanted to create my Wizard of Wazte collection, if you remember. I also even had vintage army jackets as one of my focal points!! I haven't showed you the jacket yet but I will do so asap so you can understand where my excitement comes from. For me this collection is a reassurance that I am on the right path conceptually thinking-wise when two creative directors for a well known maison have similar ideas and see similar things in the world. It made me so happy!

Les blés de Chanel at Place Vendôme

Det är ju haute couture-vecka här i Paris nu, och förutom att man möter fantastiskt vackra människor i galna kreationer så förändras stadsbilden även här och där. Idag är sista dagen på couture-veckan så jag var tvungen att ta mig ner till Place Vendôme och kika på Chanels installation innan den försvinner. De har alltså planterat gyllene vete runtom obelisken som står där inför att deras nya kollektion med haute joalleries släpps. Les blés de Chanel! För Coco Chanel var vete en symbol för tur och detta har man tagit fasta på och kreerat en kollektion av smycken på det temat. Som en bonnatös måste jag ju säga att jag älskar tilltaget och kollektionsidéen, den känns right up my alley.

It's haute couture week here in Paris right now and besides walking past extremely beautiful people clad in very extravagant clothes in the street you also notice a difference in the city landscape. Today is the last day of the week and I just had to get myself down to Place Vendôme and see the installation Chanel put there to celebrate the launch of their new haute joallerie collection. Les blés de Chanel. Coco Chanel thought wheat was a symbol of luck and the design team decided to create a collection from this. Since I'm a farmers daughter I felt right at home in this glamorous field of wheat 😉

Det märks ju att det är haute joallerie för här sparas inte på krutet/glittret. Kanske en smula mycket för min skandinaviska avskalade stil, vad tycker ni? 🙂 Bilder från Chanel, se mer här.

Couture craftmanship: feather work

Yesterday we started working on feathers in the Couture craftmanship class, an artisan work that has almost been forgotten. In the beginning of the 20th century there was around 800 plumasseries (feather ateliers) in Paris but now only a handful remains. The house of Chanel has since the 90s embarked on a journey of saving the artisans' craftmanship by buying the small ateliers so they can remain financially stable.

My music lace project with the feathers I bought for this class. Love the pale blue/grey one. Will be interesting to see what everyone can come up with!

If you would want to work in a plumasserie you would first have to do 2-4 years of apprentice ship to acquire all the skills needed to be an artisan in feathers. It's a magical world! Here's a video with one of the few remaining artisans Nelly Saunier who's worked in the field since she was a teenager.
